Peace Officer
Are you recently retired and looking for your next role? We are currently seeking dedicated Peace Officers to join our team. As a Peace Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and enforcing laws and regulations. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong leadership skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations. The Peace Officers provide security at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY but must also be available to travel to Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, NY on occasion.
**This position requires candidates with open availability as shifts will vary. Peace Officers will work a standard 5-day work week with a rotating schedule. **
The starting pay rate for this position will be $25 per hour.
Essential Functions:
- Preserve order within and around the racecourse grounds.
- Work any assigned post, including Horse Watch detail.
- Perform vehicle/foot patrol of all buildings, track and stable areas.
- Detect sign of intrusion and check security of windows and gates on property.
- Investigate disturbances and handle any confrontational situations efficiently and professionally.
- Notify Patrol Desk of any incidents to include Emergencies, Accidents, Fires or Unauthorized Persons.
- Answer questions and provide information to Visitors, Backstretch Stakeholders and Employees.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and able to be appointed as a Peace Officer.
- A valid, clean Driver's License is required and must be maintained while employed.
- The successful candidates possess a high level of integrity and are able to manage sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to make sound decisions and escalate issues as appropriate to management.
- Must be detail oriented, be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Demonstrate verbal and written and basic computer skills.
- Available for all tours and hours of work assignments.
- Ability to work at either Belmont Park OR Aqueduct Racetrack
- Shifts are comprised of weekdays, weekends and holidays.
- Willing and able to stand for long hours and work outdoors in all kinds of weather (examples: rain, sleet, snow and extreme temperatures).
