Job Description :

Our client, The NYS OAG's office is seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to work in their Lower Manhattan, NY office location. This is full-time contract assignment. The assignment is projected to last 6 months and it has the possibility of extension.




Our client will train the paralegal on the internal process and applicable Laws. The pay range for this position will be between $28 per hour. Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office.




Job Description:





      • Typing, maintaining office calendars, e-filing documents with the court, opening mail, entering data







      • Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs







      • Preparing litigation papers (prepare mental hygiene filings, prepare tables of contents/authorities for memorandum of law, prepare backs for court papers, prepare affidavits of service etc.)







      • Filing and serving all litigation papers (motions, letters, memorandum of law, affidavits); filing documents in (pleading, correspondence, motions etc);







      • Scheduling/arranging EBTs; assisting with discovery production (copying records, redacting records); assisting in preparing trial notebooks; archiving files.




Skills:







      • Excellent writing and communication abilities are preferred







      • Should be a self-starter, outgoing and team oriented.







      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are a must.







      • Ability to understand legal mandates.







      • Ability to work effectively and professionally with higher level management staff is essential.







      • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. is a mandatory component of the assignment.







      • Reliability, and time and attendance are critical.
